Being a Mom is hard! There are times I definitely feel as though I'm "failing" and my kids deserve better. But over the years, as I've built my business and worked to maintain my sanity, I've learned to implement different practices to keep me going:
1. Be Present Does the whole family/work/life balance always seem balanced? No! But practicing the art of being present helps in each moment. Being present alleviates that feeling that we may not be giving 100% to it all.
2. Have an Attitude of Gratitude Before going to bed each night, write down three things that you’re grateful for. On rough days, go back and look at your list. Negative emotions cannot reside where gratitude reigns!
3. Self-Care is Not Selfish Care I often remind myself that I cannot pour from an empty cup. Schedule time to nurture yourself and do things you love–fill your cup!
4. Set a Schedule Set daily, weekly, and monthly goals and track your progress. Schedule everything--your events, exercise, self-care, family time, and whatever else is important to you. Just like you keep your promises to others, keep your promise to your schedule!
5. Find Your Tribe, Get Support No one can run a successful business alone. Be that person who asks for help!
6. Your Friends and Family May Not Understand Your friends and family may not be on board with what you are doing–and that’s OK! They love you. They want the best for you. They will come around.
7. Yes, Know that You are Crazy! Not everyone is into this entrepreneur stuff, so if you feel a little crazy at times, it’s ok. I’m crazy with you!
8. It May Not Go As You Want It To When you feel resistance, it may be time to take a step back, evaluate, and move forward in a different way. Your business is a marathon, not a sprint. What it looks like right now may not even closely resemble what it will look like in a year!
9. Set Specific Goals Focus on two or three goals at a time and re-evaluate every 12 weeks. Be open to change your goals or change your focus if something isn’t working.
10. Affirmations May Help, but Do the Work When we tell ourselves things that we don’t truly believe at our core, it may cause more stress. Get support and investigate where the internal conflict lies. You’ll be happy you did the work!
So, here are some nuggets that I've capured over the years. If you find yourself wanting different, better, or more, don't be shy. Give me a call at 951.523.7959 or email me at Teresa@RestorationShoppe.com. I'd love to chat with you!
